Left hip….why can’t you be more like your brother?!?!

Seriously….all my knee pain has been attributed to the fact that I have a weak left hip.  More in just a bit.

I was dreading my doc appointment, but was excited to go to Salsarita’s for lunch with my dad!  Yummy burrito time.

You choose your meat (or in my case, grilled veggies) and then all the toppings you want!  My beast included the following:

  • Grilled Veggie base (Squash, Zucchini, Onion)
  • Black Beans
  • Guacamole
  • lettuce
  • tomato
  • hot salsa
  • jalepenos (I ❤ it hawt.)

They rolled that sucka up, and I was served lunch!  I even managed to resist their delicious chips.

Totally gross.  😉  Hated it.

I think at some point in my ravage like state of destroying the burrito with my mouth, I may have inadvertently ate some of the paper!!!!  Ah well, I can always use the fiber I suppose.

I then headed straight to the Physical Therapist for an assessment on this ole bum left knee.

This place was so nice!  Not a place I want to FREQUENT, but…still…nice facility.

So after poking and prodding, watching me walk on the treadmill…and some strength tests, it was determined that my left hip is dramatically weaker than my right, and I have been unknowingly overcompensating that by putting pressure on that knee!  He said it could have started while training for my Half Marathon last week…which was totally rushed.  I did things too quickly, and upped my mileage too dramatically.  I knew this going in, but I was still thankful that it was a good prognosis.  I have to do 3-4 weeks of intense isolation strengthening exercises, and then I bump up to some more advanced stretches/exercises.

I basically just have to get my left hip caught up with my right.  Hence the title of the blog, why can’t my left hip be more like it’s brother?!?!  I am officially grounding them both from running, hoping for an attitude adjustment.  Sorry right hip, but one bad hip spoils you both.  So there.

Good news is that I can still teach all my classes!!  I was so terrified I was going to be banned from everything, so that was a huge sigh of relief in itself!  Thanks for all the well wishes!

Headed to Kroger to pick up some goods for dinner.  They have a very respectable organic selection.

Made a huge salad for dinner, and was SO excited to finally have found a Fitnessista favorite to go along side.

Mary’s Crack!!!!!!!!  Yummmmmmmmmy!  Before I inhaled the salad…I snacked on this amazingness:

Honeycrisp Apple (SO good, but so expensive!  This one small guy cost me almost $2.00!), Golden Kiwi, Choco-Goodness Kind bar (semi melted, which made it even bettah.)

I trained some members on the machines, and then headed back into the office to inhale the salad!

drizzled with my fav…

Dessert was in the form of a variety of fruit from the salad bar.  I swear I could eat fruit 24/7 if allowed.

There also may be a Starbucks and some dark chocolate involved later.  Maybe a movie too?  Gotta love a good movie and great company.  Throw in a Soy Latte…perfect Friday.

Thank you so much Terri!  Her blog is totally inspiring, and is a definite must read!  In her tradition, I will now pass on this award to 12 other of my favorite bloggers.  All these ladies (and men!) make an impact in my day, and are daily reads!

  • Emily: Emily is my favorite “Clean Eater” and doesn’t hurt that she is one of my best friends who lives 20 minutes away.  We have gotten so close over the past few months, and she rocks my world!  We just did the Gasparilla Half Marathon together, and it was a blast and a half!
  • Julie: Julie absolutely cracks me up each and every day.  Her blog is always full of LOL moments…PLEASE check her out!  She is my Bean Town soul-mate, and makes killer oats each and everyday!
  • Matt: A fellow blogger boy (yes, we do exist) who is a running fool and an all around great guy.  He is a killer chef, as well!
  • Alicia: This super chick joins me in the “lost 140 lb club” can you believe it?!?!  Her posts are cute, funny, and totally delicious.

Congrats guys…now it’s your turn!  Pay it forward, and distribute that award! 😉

Express Spin class was amazing today.  I swear, even though it is only 30 minutes…by combining the “toughest” songs, we are able to work up to just as much of a sweat factory in the hour long class!  Love it!

Came home from Spin famished, and ready for a nice lunch.  I am currently obsessed with the Gardenburger..

I am a fan of any veggie burger with real veggie CHUNKS in it!

That’s some melty organic cheese goodness on my favorite whole wheat mini pocket!  Also steamed up a lima bean/broccoli combo and drenched it with Nooch (Nutritional Yeast)

Veggie Stix, and the meal was complete:

Some Broccoli Sprouts added some veggie heft to this sucka.  Dessert was yummy and simple.  Huge apple and an Attune.

I became semi-productive, and got alot done around the house before heading to work.

While waiting on dinner I had a “kind” snack.  (har, har, har.)

These are quickly becoming my favorite bars!

Dinner was the classic “at-work” staple!

Half Mediterranean Veggie Sammie (Wheat bread, Mozz instead of feta) and half the veggie pesto soup-o-joy.

Dessert was brought from home and was a mixture of 2 coconut rolled date logs, and some deeeeeeelicious dark chocolate ovals from the Earth Fizz.

There is seriously NOTHING better than good, dark, chocolate.  The simpler the better in my books.

Well bloggies, have a wondermous evening, will you???

GIVEAWAY tomorrow.  It is going to be a good one.

Here is your clue:

Think Greek!

Leaaaaaavin’, on a jet plane…..

don’t know when I’ll be back again.

Ok…I lied, I will totally be back Sunday.

Woke up to this, this morning:

Dearest Winter,

I hate you with the fire of forty suns.  I curse you daily, and if you interfere with my flight to Florida, we are going to have issues.

Sincerely,

Blogger Boy

SERIOUSLY I AM OVER THE SNOW!  Ugh.

Didn’t get a chance to update last night, but here was the dinner that I was working on from the last post:

I had made the veggie filling (mushrooms, zucchini, onions, spinach) before work and assembled it there with a whole wheat pita and some veggies/hummus.  Also added some natural provolone.  A little cheese never hurts, eh?

After dinner I had my favorite Easter candy of all time.  Now, I do not buy nor recommend buying things like this often.  This, however, falls into the category of “if you want it, eat it”.  Plus, it was the “mini” bag…and who can resist these:

Best. Candy. Ever.     I savored every egg.

Finished up work, and then headed to Wal*Mizzle to buy some of those tiny 3oz containers to take my shampoo, etc on the plane.  There was a woman in front of us (with of course, one lane being open in the ENTIRE STORE) who honest to goodness had an Encyclopedia Brittanica-esque book FULL of competitor ads.  She was price matching EVERY.  ITEM.  IN.  HER.  BUGGY.  I swear we were in line for 45 minutes, waiting on the woman to argue that “KROGER HAS TIDE ON SALE AND IT IS .30 CENTS CHEAPER!!!!!!! RAWR!!!!!”  I think the people behind us were beginning to plot her death, which was sure to be not only painful…but slow.  Do you guys price match groceries, or even frequent Wal*Mart?  It was seriously ridonkulous.

Headed home and started packing/freaking out for Florida.  I get big time plane anxiety, and mine is already starting to form.  It’s like that little feeling in your stomach right as you go down the gigantic hill on a roller coaster, and it will just gets worse as it gets closer to boarding time.  It’s only an hour flight though, which is what I have to keep reminding myself of.  I think that I have a fear of flying because there is a total lack of control.  As silly as it is, I feel like I am in control of my car.  This whole scenario is out of my hands completely.  What do you think about flying?

Breakfast this morning was spent with my favorite guy, Mr. Quaker.

I picked this up recently and figured it would be the perfect addition to some oats!

These oats had this yummy mix…plus the usual.  Heaping amount of flax, Almond Milk, Almond Butter, and a Truvia.

It was pretty much joyful.

Well, off to pack/prepare for FLORIDA!  I cannot believe I leave in like 6 hours!!!  Eek!  Florida peeps, how is the weather in Tampa???

PS, how am I supposed to leave these faces?!
