Tag Archives: Veggie Booty

Ahhh, Saturday!

Happy Saturday folks!

How is everyones weekend thus far?  Mine is peachy.  I am currenty sitting at Panera….do you think I have enough stuff spread out?

Just came from the Y-taught RIPPED (all weight class) and had a great turnout!  Burned out some shoulders today, and I am already feeling it!

I wanted SO bad to get Zumba pics/vids last night but my Flip cam was acting up!  Depression!  Managed to get a shot of Holly teaching the Dance Central class which is a Zumba style class for the kiddos.  Can you say adorable?

When it was the adults turn…we shook it.  And shook it.  And shook it.  I also got to lead my favvvvvvorite song with Holly in a dance off!  Eeeeek!  It was alot of fun though!

Check out the duds…

Bracelet of the century?  I think so.

If you have not tried Zumba.  Stop reading this blog right now, go find a class……and GO.  Go ahead.  I’ll wait.

….

….

….

See.  Wasnt that fun?!?!

In all seriousness Zumba is an amazing Latin dance inspired cardio workout that will leave you DRENCHED in sweat.  Our instructor choreographs all of her own moves, and also does alot of hip hop style dances.  It is absolutely awesome!

My friend Sharon was there last night, and had NEVER tried Veggie booty.  Luckily I keep a stash in my office.  I always have to be spreading the word about my Veggie Booty!  It is my drug of choice! 😛

I think I hooked another person on the booty!  Have you guys tried it?  Thoughts?

After Zumba I came home, and collapsed.  Can we talk briefly about odd cravings?  Being that Zumba was so late, I didn’t necessarily get to eat dinner (I know, I know…but I was so tired!)  This however, left me waking up at 2am STARVING.  I don’t know why it seemed appealing…but this is what I went for:

Pears?  Really?!?!  My body is so weird at times.

So fast forwarding past the 2am pears, got up to teach RIPPED this morning, then quickly downed my protein shake…

And some coconut water, which you MUST read about here.

And now here I sit!  Since technically the shake was my breakfast post class (I cannot eat before a class, my stomach goes crazy!) I am enjoying a nice brunch @ Panera…while reading up on GaGa in the latest Vogue…

Jalapeno Bagel with Veggie Cream Cheese anyone?!

Pure, carby, goodness.

This should be more than enough to get me through the day!

I am going to a wedding tonight and need a fancy outfit.  Coming from the guy who wears workout clothes to WORK, I am obviously a little behind in the dressing up department.  Any tips on what to wear??? I’m going to hit the mall on the way home and see if anything strikes me.  I hate dressing up, but weddings mean one thing….CAKE.  For that, I am willing to wear anything. 🙂

I also foresee a nap in my future.  Exciting, eh?  Have a great Saturday guys!  ❤

Nachos Part Deux.

Well, what was the verdict on Emilys Crock Pot Nachos?

I came home EXHAUSTED and starving from teaching Total Body….and the aroma of delicious nachos hit me as soon as I walked in the door.

A little blurry, but you get the jist.  The chicken literally shreds itself as it cooks all day in the salsa and rotel.

For the nacho part, I stopped by Kroger earlier where not only did I find these beauties…

But also found my PRECIOUS Veggie Booty (which is scientifically more addicting then any illegal drug) on sale 3 for $5!

These should last me…..ohhhh……2 hours??? hahaha

Anyway, BACK to the nachos….

Chips down…..chicken on top….broiler set to high…..some nice cheesy goodness on top……   “How bad can that be?” (bonus points if anyone knows where that quote is from.  She is my favorite chef!)

Zomg.

I straight up grabbed a fork and ate it off the pan.  It was the good!  (that and the simple fact that I was seconds away from eating the dog I was that starved.)

So needless to say, it was a success.  I wish I would have had the black beans…but it was still GREAT!  Plus I have leftovers for another meal.  Sahweeeeet.

So again, for the record….

  • 3 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 1 Jar Salsa
  • 1 Small Can Rotel
  • 1 Can Black Beans

Cook on low for 7-9 hours, place on chips…enjoy!

It doesn’t get simpler than that folks.

On that note, I am officially calling this day donezo.  Gotta teach Spin at 5:45am, so papaw needs to get in the bed.  😉

What is YOUR favorite super simple recipe?

Annnnnnd, we’re back.

Wow….spare time….to blog!!!  Where was this hour of opportunity yesterday?!?!  Oh thats right…I don’t even think I had time to exhale…let alone blog!!!!  Depressing!  From teaching my normal classes, to subbing for someone for 3 weeks and picking up all her classes….it’s insane!  Did I mention that our city’s version of Biggest Loser aka “Eight To The Eight’s” kicks off FRIDAY?!?!?!  I am about at max capacity in terms of time limits here.  Shew.  It’s a darn good thing I love my job more than life.  😉

Started off the day with a 5:45am “Insanity” inspired Circuit Class.  Emily and Kim have been doing Insanity on a regular basis, and I wish I had the time to do it with them!  It is full of awesomeness in every sense of the word…..assuming that is an actual word.  😉  Instead of joining them, I have been adding the moves to my classes…which is going swimmingly!  Today’s Circuit Class used absolutely no equipment, and had 12 stations.  We went through each station once, at one minute…and then repeated the circuit.  The last circuit was comprised of 12-1 minute ab workouts.  KILLER!  Also, theres nothing like ending a class with a full out 2 minute suicide drill using the whole gym.  😉  They love to hate me.

Walked back home (loving the fact that I am in walking distance) and met my favorite guy for breakfast.

Ain’t he cute?

Went very random with today’s mix-ins.  They included:

  • Agave Maple Syrup Blend
  • Chia Seeds
  • Dried Bananas
  • Mocha Madness Trail Mix
  • Almond Butter

Totally random.  Totally delicious.

Have I mentioned my un-dying love for my precious trail mix?!?!

Droolsville.

At this point, it was back to the YMC-izzle to teach “Total Body Low Impact” which is basically a strength/cardio full body workout, minus the intense plyometric/jumping movements that I feature in my other classes.  Again, another sweat sesh!

Seemed to have developed a pattern for today.  Teach…eat…teach…eat.  Therefore…it was time for lunch.

New to me flavor of Veggie Burger…this time, Earth Fizzle brand!  This bad boy was sooooo good!  I put it on an Arnold’s Thin with some Light Swiss Laughing Cow, Spinach…and then pressed the whole thing on the George Foreman…

Melty, cheesy, yum.  Also had some Veggie Booty, and a chopped Honey Crisp!

Well.  It is almost 3:00.  You know what that means, right?!?!?!

I have been having them put my protein powder in the Frap when they blend it!  For half price, you can’t beat it.  Plus they are fully customizable now!  I higgggghly recommend the new Mocha Lite.

Well.  Time for a coffee/protein buzz…and then to my other gym for KidFit…and back to the YMCA for Total Body HIIT.  Man, my body is hating me this week! Do as I say, not as I do people! All these high intense workouts (especially weight workouts) should not be done back to back…and definitely not on the same day!  Give your body a rest.

What is your favorite Frappuccino/Starbucks beverage?!  How often do you hit up the Bizzle each week?  If you could invent any flavor of Frapp, what would it be?  I would want some sort of Almond Milk/Protein Powder/Carmel creation….Mmmmm…..

A Days Worth -O- Yum

Today has been the biggest whirlwind ever.  Running around like a crazy person from place to place.  Ah hectic life…gotta love it, right?!

Lets start with breakfast.

My new obsesssssssion!  😉  Add some raisins, Almond Milk, and Chia Seeds…and you get…

There also may have been an undocumented Starbizzle run on the way to the YMCA.  Who’s to say?!  😉

I got to the Y around 8:00am, and worked like a mad man on some major Eight To The Eight’s stuff!  It is crunch time with that, as all the official contestants plus all the contestants who didn’t make it…all had to be notified today.  Sad times for those who didn’t make it.  I know it’s just a fact to face when you only have x amount of spots to fill, and way more than that apply…I just feel bad because these people really put themselves out there.  I wish we could take them all!

Around noon it was time for my Express Sculpt class, which I am totally loving!  The numbers are slowly building, and I love hitting all the muscle groups in half the time!  Nice change for the body.

Lunch was comprised of some yummy leftovers from last nights Earth Fare run…

Mock Chicken Salad sandwich, carrots, and Veggie Booty goodness.

This “faux” chicken is seriously the closest to the real thing as it gets.  Bravo, Earth Fare.

After this, I walked back to work and finished up working on Eight To The Eights stuff, and then headed to the High School for KidFit!  This was our second to last week before school is out for summer, and it went so well today!  We had the entire gym to ourselves, and I let the kids sort of do whatever they wanted, as long as it involved them running.  😉  Some played basketball, others volleyball…some just plain ran around like lunatics…but hey…it produced sweat.

Headed backkkkk to the YMCA afterwards for what was one of the most intense Spin classes EVAH.  I don’t know what made it so crazae, but we were all dying….in a very good way.  Note to self…..use this CD when in need of a shower like sweat sesh.

Once Spin was over it was finally time to exhale…and head to an Indian Dinner yum-fest.

I was a bad blogger and forgot to photograph the menu…which in this case was key!  We got two amazingly delicious things…and of course I have forgotten their names.

(veggie medley in an amazingly spicey sauce)

(nut and spice stuffed potatoes in an equally yah-mazing sauce)

Can’t forget the gorgeous rice!

All together now……  (with some Tandori Roti…)

The stuffed potato was out of this world!!!  Seriously, my new favorite dish.

Did I mention how much the people at Sahib L-O-V-E Maggie and I????  Free FLAMING dessert, anyone?!

Some sort of cheese/honey/fried deliciousness that was quickly consumed as soon as the flames died down.  YUM!

What a perfect way to end a very hectic day.  Who doesn’t love desserts that are on fire?!?!  😉

Later bloggies.  Debut of my Total Body HIIT class tomorrow morning at 5:45am…should be interesting to see how it goes teaching it at the crack of dawn!

Easter Shenanigans

How was everyones Easter weekend?!?!?!  I feel like a bad blogger, not updating since yesterday morning!  Sheesh.  Partook (is that a word) in several Easter shenanigans, starting with last nights Easter party.  Look at this cake and tell me you aren’t instantly in lurv.

Oh Mr. Bunny Cake….you are too cute, how could anyone eat you?!?!?!

Oh wait.

He tasted as good as he looked!

First, however, it was time to get down to some business, there were eggs to be colored, people!

Whaddya think?!?!

Egg-antics work up quite the appetite, and it was time for:

Had two slices of a pesto/pepper pie, and a nice big salad!

There may have been a sprinkling or nine of red pepper flakes.  😉

Time for random blog photo shoot time!

Did I mention that the bunny kept staring at me.

I had to take him down.

Had to take care of business!

I also got to introduce my friends to the wondermous that IS Veggie Booty!

We emptied the bag pretty quick, so I am guessing it was somewhat successful.  😉

After a night full of Easter fun it was time to head home and zonk out for the night.  Normally, Sunday morning means one thing….Cracker Barrel!  (or “The Barrel”…right, Gina?!?!)  However since we were having an early Easter lunch, I opted for a simple bowl of cereal with a nana.

Cheetah Bowl = fun times.

When lunch did roll around it was the typical Southern classics:

Here are some Blogger Boy tips for avoiding a buffet-scenario caloric disaster:

  • Small portions. There is always a tendency to want to try it all.  If you feel like this, do it….just get smaller portions.
  • Go Green. If it all possible (this time I had little option) go green and load up on veggies
  • Don’t “Hover”. Make a plate, and stick to it.  A nibble here and there doesn’t seem like much…but do this over the course of an hour while chatting it up, and you can quickly go overboard!

Dessert was present, and I sampled both cakes…but smallllll pieces, and added some fruit for balance.

It was just enough so I felt satisfied….but didn’t have the miserable, overly stuffed, instant regret feeling.  At the end of the day, it just isn’t worth it. You can totally survive situations like this by just sticking to the simple guidelines.  Don’t over do it.  EVERYTHING in moderation!

Which brings me to another point.

40 days ago I gave up all meats for Lent.  Today was the day it was over, and look what was staring me down:

Ham time!!!!

Gotta say though, I have felt better in these past 40 days than I have in a while.  Could it all be in my head???  Sure.  Point is, I felt/feel good and have decided to continue on the no meat quest. Am I saying that I am absolutely 100% vegetarian???  Nope.  I don’t think there is anything wrong with nice lean meats like chicken or salmon.  However, I simply have not missed meat in the least bit!  I feel like if you can get healthy alternative sources of protein, then go for it!  The more the merrier.

How did everyone else’s Lent give-ups go???

Since lunch provided to be somewhat of a carb/sugar overloard….I wanted a nice cold smoothie for dinner.  Add to the fact that I went on a nice long 5 mile HOT walk with my pal Susan.  Something about this hot weather…I am already getting smoothie fever hardcore.  It was time for the Green Monster!

This bad boy had:

  • 2 Cups Spinach
  • 2 TBSP Chia Seeds
  • 1 Frozen Banana
  • 1 Cup Almond Milk

With some oats sprinkled on top for good measure.

Mmmmmmm, green goodness.

Topped the night off with a trip to the bizzle, for the standard iced coffee.

Great end to a great weekend.

Sorry for the massive update/overload.  Normal life/blogging will resume tomorrow.  I hope everyone had an amazing couple of days!!!  Monday…why must you show up so soon?!?!

Heres want I want to know in a nutshell:

  • Did you give up anything for Lent, if so what/how did it go?
  • Did you splurge on some yummy holiday treats?
  • What is your FAVORITE Easter candy?

Jig is up.

Ok, we should ALL know that greasy monstrosity from this morning was totally not going in my stomach.  April Fool’s mutha lickas!

Moving on to a genuine, and delicious breakfast feast.  It was french toast time!!!

Can you say YUM?!?!?!

Ezekiel Bread dipped into a beaten egg, grilled to perfection.  Strawberries and Bananas on the side (topped with Greek Yogurt) and this liquid heaven drizzled over top of the bread:

35 seconds in the microwave turns it into a chocolate river (that flows directly towards my FACE!)

Perfection!

After breakfast I got ready, and headed to my meeting for “8 To The 8’s” which is a Biggest Loser type program our city is starting soon.  I get to be the trainer, and I am so excited.  Today we went over all the specifics of the application, and I registered a blog just for the program (coming soon!).  We also got in touch with all the local media outlets.  I am going to be on the local news promoting it.  Cue a PANIC from yours truly.  I hope I don’t just get up there and freeze!

There may have been a venti iced coffee that escaped the camera lens.  What can I say, I needed the java buzz!

Came home and started what turned out to be a mighty epic lunch.

I am loving my asparagus sammie combo!  Started by roasting these guys along with some broccoli:

I then arranged the toppings:

Asparagus/Cheese/Hummus sandwich anyone?!?!

You know I had to put some Veggie Booty with it.  Come on.

Ate it outside since it is like….July weather here.  Seriously, I am taking in as much of this sunshine as humanly possible!

Jealous pups were always waiting for something to be dropped.

To calm the sweet tooth, I chomped on some Sunspires.

I think those did the trick.

Well, I am off to bask in the sunshine a little longer, and work on my classes tonight.  I have KidFit at my other gym, then back to the YMCA for Total Body HIIT, aka my favorite night of the week.  I want to do a class tonight using ALL resistance band work, but I have to see how many people we have.  We have a limited number of bands which makes it hard…so I need to have a killer plan “B” workout planned just in case.  Any instructors out there have any suggestions for some moves using the bar, dumb bells, gliders, etc? I am always looking for new ways to kill…..errrrr, challenge my class.  😉

Later bloggies, have a great night.

Did you prank someone for April Fools Day??  Seen any good ones online?

I have seen some great ones on Google, Starbucks, and even Whole Foods.

I can smell Friday!!!!

It’s so close!!!!!

We left last off with me on an extremely jittery caffeine rush that actually turned out to be quite the productive afternoon.  What can I say, the coffee makes things happen.  I didn’t even nap!!!!  It must be the apocalypse!    Had a bangin’ snack while being productive and waiting for lunch:

Nice red pear plus my new obsession, Oikos style…CARMEL Greek Yogurt.  Whoooooa-mgah.

Cinnamon on top, made the perfect fruit dip.

Mmmmmm.

Finished my new spin playlist (see my last post for the new ideas I was tossing around) and in the meantime started thinking about lunch which eventually became a jumble of deliciousness!

Gardenburger with provolone and spinach….Veggie Booty (aka CRACK COCAINE) and some Brocc/Jalapeno Hummus.

Yum times.

I don’t know what it is specifically that makes the Veggie Pirate Booty so effing amazing, but I am telling you.  If I knew some foreign government secret, and was being held hostage…one bag of these little cuties waved in front of my face would have me squealin’ faster than a pig headin’ for the bacon shop!  Word.

Snack on the way to my classes (Kid Fit/Total Body HIIT) was slightly boring, but kept the doctor away:

And then jazzed myself up for Total Body HIIT with some magical beans…

Tonight.  Kicked.  My.  Butt.

I’m not sure if it was the fact that the gym felt like it was slightly warmer than Hades, or that I had already killed lower body this morning, but good NIGHT, it was a doozy.  Fun times though!

Gotta love the squats.

Even better when we step on/off the bench in low pulses.  Muhahahaha

Quick…raise your hands if you heart Tyler.

Aren’t they sweet.  😉

Best part was, Ashlei came!!!!!!

Ignore the fact that we are Sweatasaurus’.  She also came baring gifts of home made RAW onion bread, and raw-nola!  Am I lucky, or what?!?! 😉

Rushed home as fast as I could and yet again just threw some random items together for dinner.  Started with an egg puff, fitnessista style…

1 egg…nutritional yeast (nooch!), red pepper flakes, all nuked for two minutes.

Topped it with provolone, and put that bad boy on a whole grain English Muffin!

The monkey on the plate wanted the sammie.

Also steamed some broccoli, and added salsa/Greek Yogurt, and some carrots and Jalapeno Hummus! (current obsesssssion)

Shew.  What a day.  I love that it started and ended in the gym!  Good times!

Tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!! So stoked.  I have spin at 5:45am (new cd-izzle, so stoked…I love maiden voyages!) and then a meeting at 11:00 about our city’s version of Biggest Loser….it is getting very exciting people!  I get to be Bob…how friggin awesome is that?!?!  Well, as Bob-esque as I can be, haha.

I leave you with a hilarious Justin Bieber parody.  Goodnight.

Remember…there are still 3 days left to enter for FREE Endangered Species Chocolate. Check it out HERE! Free chocolate…save some animals…it’s pretty much win/win.  Why haven’t you entered yet?!?!
