Pancake In a Bottle?!?!

Is this some sort of spin-off of the Aguilera classic???

Nope….it was breakfast!

Batter in a bottle?!?!  Surely you jest.

It was actually delicious!

I headed over to the Hood’s this morning for our usual Saturday morning breakfast, this time…pancakes!

We made normal ones…

And pecan beauties…

These guys were so good.  The thought of pancakes under air pressure seemed a bit off, but they were just like pancakes should be!  Plus, I guess since they incorporate more air, they were way less calories…which obviously just mean more were eaten.  ;-)

I made 6 minis, and diced up a nice pear.  Cinnamon and a drizzle of Almond Butter completed the meal!

Some brown sugar may have been thrown in for giggles.

Check out their website for more info!  Such a fun breakfast.

Also needed some major coffee lurvin’ to make it through two classes:

After breakfast it was time to head to the YMC-izzle for Yoga!  I’m not going to lie, it was a major but kicker this morning, which is exactly what I needed.  She had us up on the wall!

I am absolutely loving me some Yoga.  I can feel myself becoming more flexible, and being able to take each pose a bit deeper.  It’s so neat to feel improvement!  Flexibility is something that is so easily taken for granted.  For someone who is even moderately active, Yoga does so much good.

Here are just a few of the benefits.

Directly after Yoga headed to Spin!  Class was great this morning, aside from one small problem.

I was completely and totally exhausted.

My body had had enough this week.  I did three hardcore weight days in a row starting on Wednesday (ps, BAD idea….you always need a rest day in between weight sessions) and my body had just had all it could take.  Pushed through the hour, and faked ALOT of weight/resistance.  I had to call on my inner GaGa and put on my puh-puh-puh Poker Face, puh-puh Poker Faaaaaaace.

Point is.  LISTEN to your body.  If you know you have had enough, do not risk overtraining!  Take a rest day, and let your body recover.  Tomorrow I am doing nothing, which will do my body/mind/spirit 10x more good then busting it out in the gym.  Ok, I am stepping off that soapbox.

Since I am celebrating Easter tonight back at the Hood’s, I pretty much have just snacked all day in anticipation of the goodies to come.  Here is a brief synopsis of the eats:

Started off with some Kashi Blueberry Field, and Blueberry Chobani….are we sensing a theme here?!

Purple goo, FTW!

Later chomped on some raw veggies (carrots, brocc, asparagus) and my faye-voh-right pine nute hummus!

Later…snacked on a Lara, and some grapes (I swear, all this food was spread out over the course of 6 hours, regardless of how it appears. ;-) )

IT’S PEANUT BUTTA JELLY TIMEEEEE!!!!

Well, the time has come…the eggs are boiled….the dye is ready….and my stomach is hungry again.

Everyone have a safe and wonderful Easter tomorrow….regardless of how you celebrate, find good food…good times…and good friends.

Bieber-niac.

Good afternoon my little bloggin’ buddies.

It’s Friiiiiiiddddaaaaaaayyyyyy!  Anyone else excited?!?!

My day started in typical Friday fashion, with the horrific noise of the alarm clock @ 5:00am.  *shutter*

Look, even blog boys can have bad hair days!

Pardon the disgusting mirror and/or the bags under my eyes.  It was 5am, ok?!?!?!  ;-)

We.  Kicked.  Butt.  This.  Morning.

Full spin class + new CD (with Bieber lovin’) yielded a sweat factory!  It was seriously one of the most intense CD’s ever, I think because there were alot of standing sprints, thanks to Paramore.  They are always good for a sprint song, whenever you need one…….or eleven.  ;-)

Also, can I just say that I was so thankful to have spin this morning, because my legs are sooooooore.  That rarely ever happens, but working out lower body yesterday morning, then KILLING it last night in HIIT provided me with the worlds tightest hamstrings, and some achey quads.  Spin did the trick though.

Munched on this en route to the gym…but honestly, didn’t even make it to the front door it was gone so fast.

Maranatha Dark Chocolate Spread (aka FROSTING, right Ashlei?!)  Which was smeared on an Omega 3 waffle:

Divine.

Had a nice sweat session at the gym, then headed back and was extremely lazy with the pups.  Oatmeal was in order, and was the classic chia standby!  This time I spiced things up by adding some dried kiwi.

I’m telling you.  Nuke a banana for two minutes in the microwave, THEN cook it in the oats.  Whomg.  Seriously yah-mazing.  Makes it so thick and creamy!

I went to my second meeting today about doing a “Biggest Loser” style program that our city is doing this year.  It will tie in with one of our biggest races, The “Crazy 8′s” 8K, and will take place eight weeks prior to the race.  I get to be the trainer for the teams!!!  I am so excited.  Never in a million years did I think I would ever be a “trainer”!!!  Especially when I was tipping the ole scales at 318!!!!  Hopefully I can motivate some people into changing their lifestyle!  I will have more info very soon, and will even be creating a seperate blog for program, which has officially been named “Eight to the Eight’s”  We start the application process soon, and are meeting with local tv/radio/newspaper to start advertising.  It’s going to be very exciting!!!!

After that meeting I met the Padre for lunch at Salsaritas:

Everyday there is a “special” and today it was pizza!

How can I resist a Friday-themed meal?!?!  C’mon.

Started with a whole grain tortilla:

Then added a mountain of glee which included:

  • Refried Bean Base
  • Tomatoes
  • Lettuce
  • Black Beans
  • Cheese
  • Zucchini/Onions/Squash

I was able to somehow resist the chips.  Barely!  ;-)

Needed a buzz to keep me going….it was the standard venti iced coffee with skim mizzie.

Also, at Target I saw an entire BIN of my favorite candy.  I had to restrain myself so I wouldn’t just start opening/eating all of these directly in the middle of the store:

This was like an alcoholic being taken to a booze themed Amusement Park!

Picked up a new and tasty cereal from Target which was quickly munched on for snackage:

Made a simple little parfait with caramel Oikos, and some strawberries:

Cinnamon, anyone?!?! haha

That being said…..time to go enjoy some Friday goodness.  Have a great one!!!!!

Indian feast tonight with Maggie!  So stoked, I have missed that little gal.  I have my marching orders from Fitnessita to try a lentil or chickpea dish….I also spotted one last time that was cauliflower based that I might try.  Any other Indian suggestions?!?!

Guys.  There are only *2* days left to win free Endangered Species Chocolate!!!!  Get your entry in there!!!  Closes Sunday @ midnight.

PS I think I have literally become a Middle Schooler again.  With both the Justin Bieber love going on, and my new found obsession:

I am ready for braces, awkward dates, and roller skating to 90′s music.  What can I say, I am embracing my inner tween.

To blow….or not to blow.

…..that, is the question.

I have done two spin classes today, and had fan issues.  More at the end -o- the post, and I am looking for blogger input!

Breakfast today was non-oatmeal related!!!!  I know, I know…it is scary.  Don’t worry though, I did manage up to whip up some deliciousness.

I picked up some new English Muffins that I wanted to try, and decided I was in the mood for some eggs!

I love how dogs want everything, including raw eggs.

Scrambled the egg up in a pan with some Natural Cheese Blend.  You haven’t lived until you have had cheese eggs, c’mon people.

Got some fruit goin’…

To top the muffins, I used my homemade Organic Pumpkin Butter that my friend Matt made, and some Polaner!

And, yes…I am that guy who puts ketchup on his eggs!

Deeeeeeeeeeeee-friggin-licious.  Seriously, amazing breakfast!  I was proud.  Mr. Quaker, I love you….and I will see you tomorrow.  Why do I feel like I have cheated on my spouse, by NOT having oatmeal today?!?!  I feel like he is staring at me from across the room, with a hidden yet detectable evil glare.

He knows I ate eggs, and he is angry.  Look at that grin.  *shutters*

Moving on!

A snack was my favorite Z-Bar before my second Spin class of the day:

To which I came back (covered in sweat!) and whipped up a nice, fresh, fruity lunch.  Again, I am the carb/fruit/sugar KING, and will scream it from the mountains if I must!

It was cereal/fruit bowl time!  Started out with a Chia Pudding base.  I mixed 1 TBSP of Almond Butter with 1 Cup Almond Milk, and whisked it together..

I let this little concoction get nice and thick (the Chia seeds absorb SO much water) while I chopped up a mango, and some strawberries:

Added half a cup each of my two new cereals for the week:

To the thickened “pudding” I added the cereal, and the fruit:

Both of these get two huge thumbs up.  I have never had an Annie’s product  that I haven’t loved and/or scarfed down instantly.  The brown rice tasted like rice krispies, and even had the bowl of goodness singing to me!  ;-)  Added a DASH of cinnamon.  (yea right.)

Yummy in my yummy.  Fo realz.

Moving on to the title of this post…

In my 5:45am spin class we have these gigantic, AIRPLANE powered jumbo fans that freeze me, as well as practically blow me off my seat.  They are also so audibly loud, that I have to max out the music just so people in the back of the class can hear it.  I have a couple of people who turn the fan on before we even warm up or mount our bikes!  Needless to say, I do not even sweat in class, and freeze the entire time.

Fast forward to my class today at the YMCA.  We have a rule.  If you get hot/sweaty/uncomfortable…get up, and turn the fan on.  If it gets extreme…prop open the door with a weight.  This system works so much better because  I feel like I sweat more, and when I sweat more…I work harder!  There is no better feeling than sweat dripping down my nose, to really get my class going for the day.  Also, even if we do have the fans on, they are smaller…and therefore not hurricane blasting winds like at my other gym.

So what I am asking you guys is this:

Regarding fans (spin class, other classes, workouts in general)…….to blow or not to blow?!?!  What are your opinions on this?

Back To Reality.

Well, I knew I was back home when I woke up to this:

Luckily, I also had these pups to remind me of the good aspects of Tennessee life.

I woke up with a bare kitchen, and threw together a yummy breakfast with the last of my supplies!  It was a Kashi waffle kind of morning.

“Sauce” was Almond Butter mixed with Natural Peach Jam

Also had an actual peach to go with the peach sauce.  Ok, so it was a peachy sort of morning as well.

It was then definitely time for Earth Fare!  It was good to be back in MY yummy food mart.  Loved the Floridian ones, but I do love me some Earth Feezy quite a bit.

Pretty soon I had a buggy full-o-fun:

Finished up at Earth Fare, and then headed home with the loot:

I’ve gotten several questions about my grocery bill.  Here is some advice:

  • Think about staples….it is so fun and tempting to go and buy all “fun” food and snacks, but buying alot of meal creations will make your money stretch that much more
  • Buy produce elsewhere!  Rarely do I ever get produce from Earth Fare…it is way too expensive.  In this case, I went right next door to Kroger for the veggies/fruit
  • Make. A. List.  Going into a store like this with no list is like setting a 10 yr old free in Toys-R-Us on a sugar rush.  Not a good idea.  Stick with what you need
  • Buy big!  Get items that will last several uses or make several meals/snacks
  • Have fun!  Grocery shopping should not be a chore, it should be FUN!  I swear I have the time of my life in these places.  Try something new!
  • Coupon Hunt!  Earth Fare always has a large selection of coupon books up front to loot through, and save money.  For example…I got $1.00 off of EACH of my Almond Milks, making them around .98 cents each!  Score!

My total for today (both stores combined): $76.49

This may seem steep, but it will make at least 20+ meals.

Speaking of meals, it was time for lunch!

Veggie Indian stew topped with crushed red pepper, and a new ingredient I was excited to try:

Yay for yeast!  haha  I had seen this used on several of my favorite bloggies, but when Fitnessista said it tasted like cheese…I was sold.  Also toasted up a Whole Wheat Pita Pocket for dippage:

Plus a jealous on-looker:

Dessert was simple and tasty.  Pear drenched in cinnamon:

And since I started with some doggie cuteness….gotta end with some.

Do you see the distractions I must live with?!?!?!  ;-)

Later bloggies.
