2 Buck Booty.

My fay-voh-rite snack, Pirate Booty was on sale at the Earth Feezy today for 2 bucks.  Is it sad that things like this not only MAKE my day, but prompt my blog title?!?!?!  If so, I completely embrace the pathetic-ness up front. ;-)

Firstly…lets back track.  Today was the first day of running in 3 weeks thanks to the bum knee, so Steph and I set out on our favorite 5 mile course!

She was totally enthused to have her picture taken, let me TELL you. hahahaha  She also wants the blog world to know that she isn’t completely pigeon toe’d as the picture would have you believe.

I, however, am always ready with some sort of cheesy pose.

Rocked the 5 miles at a slow and steady 9:00 pace.  My knee started hurting around mile 4, but I was stoked that I made it so long without pain!  Stretched a TON when we got done, and it feels back to normal!  Normally this knee pain is HARDCORE and lasts a while, so I was happy to not be feeling it shortly after.  I am hoping that means I am somewhat ok.

After the run it was time to replenish the carbs….pizza anyone?!

This place is so fun!

My choice was a no brainer.  Mega Veggie!  I got the smallest one (which was still giganohughnormous) so I could have leftovers for work later tonight:

My portion for lunch (x2)

See, she doesnt always have that odd look on her face:

Did I mention that the crust is my absolute FAVORITE part?!?!

After lunch we headed to the place that warms my heart:

Don’t you love that BESIDE the Earth Fare is a friggin’ Donut Shop?!?!  Irony at it’s finest.  I think Steph and I were most excited for the bulk fooded, of which we sampled muchly.

I didn’t even make it to the car before I tore into the bags:

I adore dried/unsweetened pineapples!!!  Check out the loot (including the 2 buck booty!)

I still have to make a fruit/veggie run tonight, but I got the basics while at the Feezy.  Look at these containers of joy!

Then headed to work where other employees decided it was random photoshoot time for the blog:

Can anyone name the booty in the background?!?!  She is mentioned frequently in the blog.

Melissssssaaaaah! :-)

Snackage was a yummy combo of Granola and Chobani:

And dinner was leftover pizza!

Which was even better cold, believe it or not.

And you know I couldnt go a night without saving an animal.  I mean come on…the butterfly was calling my name hardcore.

It was awful.  AWFUL.  ;-)  Ok………awful = gone instantly.  So much for “savoring” the chocolate.  I eat my food like some crazed lunatic, and then wonder where it went when it’s gone.

Well, another Tuesday gone.  Spin class is calling my name at 5:45am.  I am using a new CD, can’t wait to see what they think of it!

Do you exhibit crazy like behavior while grocery shopping like I do?!?!  Do you typically make lists, or just kind of go and grab?

TGIS!

Hello bloggies, I hope that everyone is having a funtabulous weekend.  Mine got started out GREAT today!  Many reasons added to this feeling of joy, one of which being breakfast…

Mixed those two lovies, and then added some Yogurt…

Which, coincidentally, is the same yogurt you can win for FREE by entering here.  You get 4 free small containers, 1 free large container, and a super cute tote bag!  Enter, enter!  Voting closes midnight Sunday!

Cereal + Yogurt + Nana + Cinnamon = perfect start ‘o the day.

Raise your hands if you are jealous of the cheetah bowl.    ……..   thought so.

After I was properly fueled I found another reason to be excited:

This is honestly the most gorgeous day we have had all season!  Almost feels like spring time!  Felt good getting that Vitamin D!  Thank you, spherical ball of heat.

Headed to Johnson City for spin class, and was expecting the worst on the ole knee with two spin classes to teach back to back.  I was a good little Physical Therapy patient, and did all my stretched beforehand (those suckas take like 20 minutes!) and had NO knee pain in class!

One down, and one to go.  I was still a little nervous on the way to Spin #2…but my GaGa shades helped me conquer my fears…

Rocked it O-U-T in my second spin class.  Full, hot, sweaty, 110% effort.  Seriously a spin class for the books.  Yet again…NO knee pain.  It was incredible.  Friday morning I could hardly walk it hurt so bad…and after only 2 or 3 rounds of deep stretching/strength exercises for the weak hip, I had no pain!  I was elated.

After spin I headed down to Pan-izzle to pick up lunch to take back to work.

I got half the veggie sandwich…half the fuji apple chicken salad (no chicken!), and a whole grain baguette.

Oh bread, how I love thee.

So yummy.  Here is my short rant on Panera.

It is one of the few places I *trust* that I would consider fast food.  Not that long ago (in my carnivore days) I was eating only Chik-Fil-A as my “fast food” source thinking it was somewhat healthy.  Even the “healthy” options are loaded with sodium and preservatives.  Big let down.  While I know that Panera is not 100% organic, they do try to incorporate a multitude of organic items and their website has a nutritional calculator that is far and beyond any other I have found.  You can see all the ingredients plus SUBSTITUTE items, which I do very frequently.  Today I did a different bread and cheese then the normal sammie, so it was nice to get an accurate calorie count, while being picky.  ;-)

Dessert was involved, of course, and included my favorite dried fruit…Kiwi!  (a piece or two of mini Hershey’s may have somehow fallen into my mouth as well)

I worked away for a couple of hours, and now here I sit…enjoying my Trail Mix bagel with Natural PB (see, another reason to <3 Panera)

What can I say, 2 hours of spin class really works up an appetite.  Although, I rarely need a “reason” to stuff my face with carbs.

Get out and ENJOY this lovely day people!  It’s a good one!

Enter in for that free yogurt, too!

Left hip….why can’t you be more like your brother?!?!

Seriously….all my knee pain has been attributed to the fact that I have a weak left hip.  More in just a bit.

I was dreading my doc appointment, but was excited to go to Salsarita’s for lunch with my dad!  Yummy burrito time.

You choose your meat (or in my case, grilled veggies) and then all the toppings you want!  My beast included the following:

  • Grilled Veggie base (Squash, Zucchini, Onion)
  • Black Beans
  • Guacamole
  • lettuce
  • tomato
  • hot salsa
  • jalepenos (I <3 it hawt.)

They rolled that sucka up, and I was served lunch!  I even managed to resist their delicious chips.

Totally gross.  ;-)  Hated it.

I think at some point in my ravage like state of destroying the burrito with my mouth, I may have inadvertently ate some of the paper!!!!  Ah well, I can always use the fiber I suppose.

I then headed straight to the Physical Therapist for an assessment on this ole bum left knee.

This place was so nice!  Not a place I want to FREQUENT, but…still…nice facility.

So after poking and prodding, watching me walk on the treadmill…and some strength tests, it was determined that my left hip is dramatically weaker than my right, and I have been unknowingly overcompensating that by putting pressure on that knee!  He said it could have started while training for my Half Marathon last week…which was totally rushed.  I did things too quickly, and upped my mileage too dramatically.  I knew this going in, but I was still thankful that it was a good prognosis.  I have to do 3-4 weeks of intense isolation strengthening exercises, and then I bump up to some more advanced stretches/exercises.

I basically just have to get my left hip caught up with my right.  Hence the title of the blog, why can’t my left hip be more like it’s brother?!?!  I am officially grounding them both from running, hoping for an attitude adjustment.  Sorry right hip, but one bad hip spoils you both.  So there.

Good news is that I can still teach all my classes!!  I was so terrified I was going to be banned from everything, so that was a huge sigh of relief in itself!  Thanks for all the well wishes!

Headed to Kroger to pick up some goods for dinner.  They have a very respectable organic selection.

Made a huge salad for dinner, and was SO excited to finally have found a Fitnessista favorite to go along side.

Mary’s Crack!!!!!!!!  Yummmmmmmmmy!  Before I inhaled the salad…I snacked on this amazingness:

Honeycrisp Apple (SO good, but so expensive!  This one small guy cost me almost $2.00!), Golden Kiwi, Choco-Goodness Kind bar (semi melted, which made it even bettah.)

I trained some members on the machines, and then headed back into the office to inhale the salad!

drizzled with my fav…

Dessert was in the form of a variety of fruit from the salad bar.  I swear I could eat fruit 24/7 if allowed.

There also may be a Starbucks and some dark chocolate involved later.  Maybe a movie too?  Gotta love a good movie and great company.  Throw in a Soy Latte…perfect Friday.

Knee Update.

Well, while I thought my knee was doing semi “ok” it has flared up in a maaaaajor way this morning, almost to the point where I couldn’t finish spin class.  I have bitten the bullet, and am going to the doctor (Physical Therapist) today to have him look at it…so wish me luck!  I am hoping beyond all hopes that it is not something that requires me to take “time off” because working out = Tyler’s paycheck (or lack there of).  :-(  We shall see.  On to more inspiring news…such as the mini clif I inhaled at crack thirty in preparation for 5:45am spin.

Headed to spin, felt fine for the first 40 minutes or so, then the knee began killlllllling me.  It is the only time I have ever been counting down the minutes until class was over.  Depressing, blah.  Theres no swelling, and the pain is below the left knee…but it feels like it is deep inside.  I can only describe it like a piercing feeling that just jabs harder when I put pressure on the foot, go up or down stairs, or do the pedaling motion in spin class.  Sad times indeed.  Hopefully the Doc can tell me what is going on later.

Came home and prepared a breakfast that made me almost completely forget my knee pain.  Yep, it was that yummy.  Started with the Millet-lovin’

Then made a nice bath for it to swim in, pre-pan.

Soaked the bread in the egg mixture, and then put those babies in the pan!  (forgot to add the massive amounts of flax seed to the above picture. )

While the French Toast browned on both sides, I chopped up some strawberries and a huge mango:

Also heated up the STAR ingredient in the microwave…

Ashlie gave me this bad boy last night in class, and I could not wait to use it (obv. ;-) ) It is so fun to finally meet a blogger.  Crazy that we lived so close.  We are already planning Tampa trips (your coming too, Krucker and Emily) and visits to Earth Fare!!!  She also has a VitaMix that we get to play with!  I am so stoked!  Back to the toast. :-)  I browned it up, and smeared the heated coconut butter on top.  Are you drooling yet???  Because I am, and I have already EATEN it.

Dear.  Sweet.  Big Bird.      This was amazinggggggg!  I have to get a big jar of that coconut butter, stat.  Hurry up and get back from Florida, Ashlie…we have some trips that need to occur. ;-)  Sad times followed when I realized my mini jar was already gone!

I’m tempted to do the world’s smallest “Oat’s In A Jar” with this. haha

Also, Sam was craving a mango.

And yes, he got it.

Ahh, to live the lives of dogs.  Look at them!

On that note, it is time for lunch.  I am meeting my dad at one of my favorite Mexican places, Salsaritas!  I refer to it as a “Mexican Subway” because it is basically a build your own burrito joint.  Totally yummy.  Check it out, here.

Time for lunch, and then the doctor.  I am still five years old and despise the doctor.  Maybe I can get a sticker or candy out of it.  ;-)  Wish me luck!

Also, for the Survivor fans out there.  Was that Tribal Council last night awesome or what?!?! I love me a good blindside.

Late Breakfast

So after Spin class this morning (we had 14, and they rocked it!) I pretty much came home and went back to sleep.  With only 4 hours of sleep last night I was really feeling it when I got home, and collapsed into a 4 hour mini sleep session.  I haven’t slept that late in a loooooong time, but boy did it feel good.  I woke up STARVING.  I am so used to eating my breakfast around 8:00/8:30, that 11:30 was a big difference, and my body knew it.

I was overjoyed to wake up to this weather:

Sun?  What is this spherical heated object of which you speak?!?!  I seriously forgot what it was like to be gorgeous outside.  My brain said one thing:

(love my bumper sticker! :-) )

My knee, unfortunately told me otherwise.  I have self-diagnosed Runner’s Knee and I am trying to do no running until the Half Marathon next weekend.  I am sticking with Spin and Weights until then.  Alas, it is all I can do to not tie up my Mizuno’s and run in the gorgeous weather.  Sad panda time.

I was absolutely ready for a late breakfast and went for the classic:

Today’s batch had:

  • 1/2 Cup Oats
  • 1 Cup Skim Milk
  • 2 TBSP Trader Joe’s Indulgent Trail Mix
  • 2 TBSP Dark Chocolate PB
  • 1 Banana

Beauty.  I seriously get so excited about oatmeal.  Perhaps a bit too excited.  ;-)

Check back this evening for an exciting giveaway!!!!!   :-D  Trust me, it is a gooooood one.
